INVICTO: Maruti Suzuki India's Trump Card ?

The last few months have been very busy in the automotive segment with significant activity in the SUV segment. Buyers now have plethora of choices, all sporting the new and most sought after features. ADAS in not a novelty anymore, neither is Panoramic Sun roof. Most of the recent launches sport plush interiors

Typically, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is associated with Sub - 15 lac cars. The foray into the late INR 30 lac product segment is the talk of the town and many are doubting MSIL's capability to pull off such as product, in this ticket segment. This is also interesting in the light of the fact that this is rebadged product already being sold by Toyota. The Invicto gets pitted against the other version the Hycross being successfully sold by Toyota, with record bookings.

However, contrary of all apprehensions, the Invicto will be a run away success in my opinion. The prime reasons to believe so:

1. Smart Positioning.

MSIL has positioned it in a way that, its not directly pitted against the Hycros variants. Example, its models are Non-ADAD. Its models have 17 inch tyres on all trims. Its not at all competing in the Non-Hybrid version. Some of the segments of product, MSIL has left, where Toyota's value proposition in strong.

2. Toyota's Reliability married with MSIL's ease of ownership.
Owing a MSIL car is something that most Indians find comfort with. It becomes even promising, when all the negatives associated with MSIL product, such as Weight, Safety, Reliability, expertise with Hybrid, are addressed with the fact that its a Toyota technology. All buyer segment is aware of the fact that they will get to access best of both the worlds, MSIL's dealer and service network and QDR of Toyota, that too at a relatively marginally lower rates.

3. Waiting period.
The market has shown huge appetite for the product, evident in the record waiting periods for the Hycorss. Not all demand segment would be be want of ADAS. Most buyers want to buy the car for the following value proposition.
- Proper 7 seater
- Non- MPVish stance
- Better mileage with petrol, allowing 15 years of ownership
- Reliability of Toyota

features like ADAS and bigger wheels, are just the sweeteners.
In case a buyer is picking up an Invicto, most of the core of value proposition is met anyways and that too with lower waiting periods, resulting in sales for MSIL's Invicto!!!

MSIL has played its card smartly!!
Invicto will surely be a Victor!!

Food Security Bill - Is it Really Required ?

Food Security Bill..Another burden of Rs 1.1 Lakh Crore...How is Govt going to arrange funds for such a huge expenditure ? Probably another loan form some external source...But isn't our economy already paying one third of its revenue to service the interest of existing debt ? Isn't the extra burden going to widen the aready widened fiscal deficit ? How is govt going to arrange the funds ? Isn't the burden bad at such a tight economic scenario ?What is the govt doing ? Kiiling the India growth story ?Degrading the bussiness environment in the economy ? And Govt. anyway has never been a good implementaiton agent for public schemes.Isn't it a new avenue for corruption ? And, providing free food ? How prudent is that ?Isn't it going to kiil the productivity of the economy ? EX - If on gets free meal every day. He also get money from NAREGA ? Why would one take a burden of working ?Arent these policies destroying the productivity of the large workforce of India ?The wo...

LOKPAL MOVEMENT- A Part of Evolution of Democracy in India

The Lokpal for which every body is fighting, would again become a part of a corrupt system. Fears are that, it may create a power center, if made very strong and hence a center of corruption. If accepted in the form suggested by Govt, it would again que up in existing list of toothless systems... Now What to do !!! Support What!! But, History shows that ways of governance evolves over a period of time and adapts itself to the changing needs. Probably its another phase in the evolution of Indian democracy after the JP movement. JP movement made sure that emergency wont be declared without any reason, It strengthened our democracy. Similarly, The Lokpal bill, if passed would create some checks and balances in the system to add to its efficiency. This would only add some efficiency in democracy!!! But, I would like a thorough discussion b/w the govt and team Anna as varried opinions would create checks and balances for Lokpal so that it doesnot become a supmreme power center in itse...

Is Sehwag Better Than Sachin?

No, Sachin is in a different league. He is beyond Comparisons. He never had the comfort of taking risks in his time. He was burdened. Every time he walked out, he was supposed to finish the game. Same is not expected from Sehwag. If he fails, few will blame him. Sehwag has more freedom. Even today , Sachin is burdened by expectations. If he starts playing like Sehwag (Which I strongly feel he can), and fails in two consecutive games, the critics will start analyzing his fitness, his age, etc. I'l say one line "Its very difficult to be Sachin". To carry the expectations of Billions. We are so emotionally attached to him that when he fails we feel that we have been defeated and that is the time, we become very critical of him. So, he never had the freedom to play naturally. Even after all this what he has achieved in world cricket is nothing short of exceptional ! Sachin is a role model for most of the Indians. Hats off to Sachin! Sehwag is also a very fine player and in a ...
